Default how do i tell if my truck is half ton?

hey i just got a 77 chev pickup. im pretty sure its not a half ton cause it seems to sit a lot higher than most stock PUs i see.

its 2wd. with 8lug wheels. long bed. chevy 350motor.
what all else do i need to know?

and i wanna lower it and eventually bag her too. is this way harder on a 3/4 ton? (which is what im thinkin it might be).

i checked the reg and it says c2pu so guessing its a c20. called a friend who works at napa and he says its 3/4. and that he cannot get me drop spindles.
damn.
my front bearings need repacking since the truck sat the last ten years and i figure while i have the shop redoing that they might as well install some drop spindles.

mine was 3/4 ton and i got half ton wheels on it. i got new control arms from the junk yard so i could convert it to 5 lug with some drop spindles and a 5 lug axle. i might be wrong but im sure you can put 1/2 ton ball joints in it and then add a 1/2 ton spindle that way but if not jus change out the control arms

Check Classic Performance Products, I know they make dropped spindles for 3/4 ton, early models('60's-'72) I'm pretty sure they make 'em for yours.

thanks guys. i was on the phone with a buddy who works at napa and i mentioned some plans with the truck as i was actually lookin for a deal on plugs and wires. he said he could get 1/2 ton spindles but didnt find anything for 3/4 ton.

thanks for the insight and help guys! slammed83 ill be checking them out.

wish i had unlimited funding but its been a slow year working comission retail and customizing. too bad im not so good at welding and stuff yet.. maybe ill get to learn on my own truck before i can start charging others for my work.
ill be the first to say that i've got a lot to learn. i know stereo systems and electrical its no problem but im no good at the rest (yet).
